We chose people who were going to work with the neighbourhood.

Sholette: So me and a couple other people, we made sure we chose people who were going to work with the neighbourhood to create a project that local people would get involved with interactive whatever, around ethnic histories of Asians in the city etc. etc. I don’t know how much of it was eventually built. The influx of high tech capital has certainly impacted the city’s approach to public space and public policy as much as it no doubt influenced the “social practice” type art project that you just presented to me.
