Probably the most important technique to undermine, their goal was very subversive, to undermine capitalist images, was the détournement. And it is quite fun and Adbusters of course is the contemporary voice of the SI and some of the images and the détournements of the SI are very clever and very funny and they have the viewer become participant in dismantling this illusion of the spectacle. It’s not really an illusion, the spectacle. It’s a created structure of control by images. So this wonderful thing to take apart and recognize that and to say to people, this is it, this is how you can unpack it and destroy it, it becomes meaningless then.
